Coding is required to tell the vehicles ECU that a towbar is present so the towing electrics will function properly. This is done with a diagnostic tool, and may need to be done by the main dealers.

Can I put a hitch on a 2015 MB E250BT (US)? RWD. I've been told to get the Bosal hitch and the Westfallia cables.

Hi Samuel, Yes that fits the 212 chassis E Class. If you're ok with with spending a little more then the Westfalia is a better brand and also O.E to Mercedes in Europe.
I can confirm that the Westfalia wiring kit is the same for LHD and RHD however if the vehicle has Flashing tail lights for the turn signal instead of seperate ones it could be a problem.

Adam Dixon,
"Flashing tail lights for the turn signal instead of separate ones it could be a problem"
You mean the newer LED strips instead of the older bulbs? How can I tell if I have that?
Thanks.

Hi Sam, No sorry I mean in Europe the turn signal has always been a separate amber colour bulb section in the rear lamps. In the U.S the older vehicle use the same Red bulb as the tail lights and flash that one instead, some VW's for instance still have this function in the last 10 years but it may not be the same on your vehicle as most European brands aren't.
Your LED bulbs are irrelevant and the kit would work providing you have the separate rear turn signal.
Hope I explained it well enough.
Kind regards.
Will the MERCEDES E-CLASS SALOON 05/2009-2016 BOSAL DETACHABLE TOWBAR fit a 2011 e550 4 door (in the US)? If so, which of the wiring options would be needed?
In the US they make a towbar for the 2011 e550 coupe and convertible but not the 4door for some reason.

Hi Brett,
I can confirm the 050-483 Will fit the 2011 4 door saloon, the coupe and cabrio have different towbars because of a different back end to the chassis.
As for the wiring you can buy a universal kit that manually crimps to the back lights to power the socket or we have the vehicle specific kit made to fit the vehicle, but specific kits need coding to the vehicle before they will fully work: http://www.pfjones.co.uk/mercedes-2008-2016-7-pin-westfalia-wiring-kit-313361300107.html
