DFi1.5 Common Rail Injector Bleeding Procedure

Some DFi1.5 injectors have been reported to suffer from sticking of the injector control valve upon vehicle fitment. This is due to continuous control valve movement before diesel has sufficiently lubricated the moving surfaces. In the absence of an HP bleed routine using a diagnostic tool then to improve component lubrication during injector bleeding, the below procedure should be followed to prevent control valve seizure.

 The recommended bleeding procedure is as follows:- 

1. Fit injectors to the vehicle, observing all cleanliness and torque setting requirements. 
2. Fit new HP pipes and torque as per the vehicle specification.
3. Leaving all injector electrical plugs disconnected, crank the engine for 7-10 seconds.
4. Wait for 10 seconds (preventing overheating of components).
5. Crank the engine for a further 7-10 seconds.
6. Connect the injector drive cables and crank to start engine.

In addition to the above procedure, it’s imperative all open fuel connections/galleries should be capped to prevent dirt ingress/contamination and minimise unnecessary fluid losses from the fuel system.
