VW Amarok Towing Specifications

The Volkswagen Amarok is a pickup truck produced by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWCV) since 2010. It is a traditional body-on-frame truck with the double-wishbone suspension at the front and leaf springs at the rear. Volkswagen Amarok Towbar electric kits

We recommend that all towbars fitted to a Volkswagen Amaroks are fitted with a dedicated electrics kit, this not only helps to ensure all modern features, such as trailer stability, parking sensors function correctly, but also ensures that the vehicles manufacturer’s warranty is not invalidated. Bypass Relays

Volkswagen Amarok's will require a bypass relay when universal electrics are fitted. Bypass relays are used to ensure that the kit does not present faults on the dashboard.

A bypass relay helps the universal kit hide from your vehicle ECU and functions so as not to put faults on the dashboard hence the name “BYPASS”.

A dedicated system works in harmony with your vehicles ECU and all of its functions.

Coding

This is the coding of the ECU to accept the dedicated system, this updates your vehicle's software to run smoothly with the new towbar, it works very much like an update to your smartphone. All Volkswagen Amarok's will require coding.

Bumper cuts

The only option on Volkswagen Amarok towbars is No Cut, a bumper cut is not required.

Nose weight

Nose weight is the amount of weight pushing down on the tow ball, it is important to not exceed the nose weight set on the tow bar, failure to do so could damage the car chassis and/or tow bar mounting points. For the Volkswagen Amarok, the nose range varies only slightly over the different tow bars. The minimum capacity nose weight is 120kg, and the maximum capacity nose weight is 140kg, nose weights are displayed under each tow bar below.

Towing weight

Towing weight is the weight that the Volkswagen Amarok towbars can tow safely, without damaging the vehicle, the maximum towing weight capacity is 3500kg, and the minimum towing weight capacity is 2800kg. The towing weight is shown under each towbar, as capacities are towbar specific.
