The Vauxhall Insignia is a mid size/large family car, production of the Insignia began in August 2008, as a replacement for the Vectra and Signum. We will look at the towing specifications of the different year ranges and models of Vauxhall Insignia below.

Insignia Grand Sport (Hatchback) 2017 Onwards Towbar electric kits

We recommend that all tow bars fitted to a Vauxhall Insignia (Hatchback) 2017 Onwards are fitted with a dedicated electrics kit, this not only helps to ensure all modern features, such as trailer stability, parking sensors function correctly, but also ensures that the vehicles manufacturer’s warranty is not invalidated. A quick look at Vauxhall's warranty page confirms that Insignia's produced from 2016 onwards, only cars produced in the last three years will have a manufacturers warranty active.
"Vauxhall’s new vehicle warranty ensures your peace of mind against material or manufacturing defects for three years (unlimited mileage for the first 12 months and subject to a total mileage limit of 60,000 miles from first registration). This applies to all cars and vans except Insignia and New Movano, the additional warranty for which carries a limit of 100,000 miles from first registration." Vauxhall Warranty information
We do of course offer, Vauxhall Insignia universal electrics kits, however as stated these will invalidate any manufacturer warranty you may have.

Bypass Relays

Vauxhall Insignia will require a bypass relay when universal electrics are fitted. Bypass relays are used to ensure that the kit does not present faults on the dashboard. A bypass relay helps the universal kit hide from your vehicle ECU and functions so as not to put faults on the dashboard hence the name “BYPASS”. A dedicated system works in harmony with your vehicles ECU and all of its functions.

Coding

This is the coding of the ECU to accept the dedicated system, this updates your vehicle's software to run smoothly with the new towbar, it works very much like an update to your smartphone. All Vauxhall Insignia will not require coding.

Bumper cuts

The only option on Vauxhall Insignia (Hatchback) 2017 Onwards towbars are None Visible, and Visible, a bumper cut is required.

Nose weight

Nose weight is the amount of weight pushing down on the tow ball, it is important to not exceed the nose weight set on the tow bar, failure to do so could damage the car chassis and/or tow bar mounting points. For the Vauxhall Insignia the maximum capacity nose weight is 110kg, minimum capacity nose weight is 60kg, nose weights are displayed under each tow bar below.

Towing weight

Towing weight is the weight that the Vauxhall Insignia (Hatchback) 2017 Onwards towbars can tow safely, without damaging the vehicle, the maximum towing weight capacity is 2200kg, the minimum towing weight capacity is 2000kg.

You will need to check the towing limit for your model of Vauxhall Insignia as it may not be able to tow up to the weight limit that the tow bar can tow.  

Vauxhall Insignia Hatchback 2008-2017

Vauxhall Insignia's manufactured in 2017 it is important you correctly determine which model you have to ensure you get the correct towbar. A quick look at Vauxhall's warranty page confirms that Insignia's, produced in the last three years will have a manufacturers warranty active.
"For three years from the date that the vehicle is delivered to the first owner or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first, any component failure attributable to faulty materials or workmanship during manufacture will be rectified free of charge by an authorised Vauxhall dealer. For three years from the date that the vehicle is delivered to the first owner, any paintwork defects and surface rust attributable to faulty materials or workmanship during manufacture will be rectified free of charge by an authorised Vauxhall dealer."
