Toyota HiLux Towing Specifications
The ToyotaHiLux is a series of light commercial vehicles produced and marketed by the Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota. The majority of these vehicles were soldas pickup truck or cab chassis variants although they could be configured in a variety of body styles.There are 8 generations of HiLux, we stock towbars for the last 3 generations, we will cover the towing specifications forlast three generations below.
Toyota HiLux 2016 Onwards Towbar electric kits
We recommend that all tow bars fitted to a Toyota HiLux 2016 Onwards are fitted with a dedicated electrics kit, this not only helps to ensure all modern features, such as trailer stability, parking sensors function correctly, but also ensures that the vehicles manufacturer’s warranty is not invalidated. A quick look at Toyota's warranty page confirms that Toyota HiLux 2016 Onwards produced from 2016 onwards, only cars which are under 5 years old or have less than 100,000 miles on the clock, will have a manufacturers warranty active."- 5 years or 100,000* miles from new, whichever comes first, with no mileage limitations for the first year. This warranty also covers any mechanical fault caused by a manufacturing defect. Toyota Warranty informationWe do of course offer, ToyotaHiLux 2016 Onwards universal electrics kits, however as stated these will invalidate any manufacturer warranty you may have.
Bypass Relays
Toyota HiLux 2016 Onwards will require a bypass relay when universal electrics are fitted. Bypass relays are used to ensure that the kit does not present faults on the dashboard.A bypass relay helps the universal kit hide from your vehicle ECU and functions so as not to put faults on the dashboard hence the name “BYPASS”.
A dedicated system works in harmony with your vehicles ECU and all of its functions.
Coding
This is the coding of the ECU to accept the dedicated system, this updates your vehicle's software to run smoothly with the new towbar, it works very much like an update to your smartphone. All Toyota HiLux 2016 Onwards will not require coding.Bumper cuts
The only option on Toyota HiLux 2016 Onwards towbars are No Cut, a bumper cut is not required.Nose weight
Nose weight is the amount of weight pushing down on the tow ball, it is important to not exceed the nose weight set on the tow bar, failure to do so could damage the car chassis and/or tow bar mounting points. For the Toyota HiLux 2016 Onwards the maximum capacity nose weight is 200kg, the minimum nose weight capacity is 130kg, nose weights are displayed under each tow bar below.Towing weight
Towing weight is the weight that the Toyota HiLux 2016 Onwards towbars can tow safely, without damaging the vehicle, the maximum towing weight capacity is 3500kg.You will need to check the towing limit for your model of Toyota HiLux 2016 Onwards as it may not be able to tow up to the weight limit that the tow bar can tow.
Towing Specifications manufactured in 2005 or 2016? it is important you correctly determine which model you have to ensure you get the correct towbar. HiLux's manufactured in 2005, 2006 or 2007, it is important you correctly determine which model you have to ensure you get the correct towbar.
