Toyota C-HR Towing Specifications

The Toyota C-HR is a subcompact crossover SUV produced by Toyota. The production version of the C-HR was unveiled at the March 2016 Geneva Motor Show. The name C-HR stands for Compact High Rider, Cross HatchRun–about or Coupé High–Rider We will cover the Toyota C-HR towing specifications below.

Toyota C-HR 2016 Onwards Towbar electric kits

We recommend that all tow bars fitted to a Toyota C-HR 2016 Onwards are fitted with a dedicated electrics kit, this not only helps to ensure all modern features, such as trailer stability, parking sensors function correctly, but also ensures that the vehicles manufacturer’s warranty is not invalidated.

A quick look at Toyota's warranty page confirms that Toyota C-HR 2016 Onwards produced from 2016 onwards, only cars which are under 5 years old or have less than 100,000 miles on the clock, will have a manufacturers warranty active.

We do of course offer, Toyota C-HR 2016 Onwards universal electrics kits, however as stated these will invalidate any manufacturer warranty you may have.

Bypass Relays

Toyota C-HR 2016 Onwards will require a bypass relay when universal electrics are fitted. Bypass relays are used to ensure that the kit does not present faults on the dashboard.

A bypass relay helps the universal kit hide from your vehicle ECU and functions so as not to put faults on the dashboard hence the name “BYPASS”.

A dedicated system works in harmony with your vehicles ECU and all of its functions.

Coding

This is the coding of the ECU to accept the dedicated system, this updates your vehicle's software to run smoothly with the new towbar, it works very much like an update to your smartphone. All Toyota C-HR 2016 Onwards will not require coding.

Bumper cuts

The only option on Toyota C-HR 2016 Onwards towbars are No Cut, a bumper cut is not required.

Nose weight

Nose weight is the amount of weight pushing down on the tow ball, it is important to not exceed the nose weight set on the tow bar, failure to do so could damage the car chassis and/or tow bar mounting points. For the Toyota C-HR 2016 Onwards the maximum capacity nose weight is 75kg, nose weights are displayed under each tow bar below.

Towing weight

Towing weight is the weight that the Toyota C-HR 2016 Onwards towbars can tow safely, without damaging the vehicle, the maximum towing weight capacity is 1300kg.

You will need to check the towing limit for your model of Toyota C-HR 2016 Onwards as it may not be able to tow up to the weight limit that the tow bar can tow.
