The Trafic is a light commercial van, below we will cover the Renault Trafic's towing specifications for the last three generations.Renault Trafic 2014 OnwardsTowbar electric kits
We recommend that all tow bars fitted to a Renault Trafic's are fitted with a dedicated electrics kit, this not only helps to ensure all modern features, such as trailer stability, parking sensors function correctly, but also ensures that the vehicles manufacturer’s warranty is not invalidated.A quick look at Renault's warranty page, personally I found Renault's warranty page to be the most confusing, however, it does appear to offer the option to extend your warranty up to 10 years, which makes it by far the most comprehensive warranty program I have seen.
Depending on whether you have taken the extended warranty cover, Renault Trafic's which are less than three years old, and which have driven less than 100,000 miles on the clock, will have a manufacturers warranty active.
" Renault New car warranty EasyLife PackYour vehicle is covered by a warranty package for up to 3 years from date of first registration with unlimited mileage during the first 24 months, followed by a further 1 year limited to a total mileage of 60,000 (for KOLEOS, ZOE and LCV vehicles the third year is limited to a total mileage of 100,000)
Your Renault Dealer or Renault Z.E. Dealer is able to repair or replace without charge, parts that are found to have a material or assembly defect that is recognised by Renault.
Should you wish, you'll be able to take out extended warranty cover each year after that until your vehicle is 10 years old or has covered 100,000 miles from new. We'll write to you before your extended warranty expires with details of how to do this.Renault Extended Warranty is not available once your manufacturer warranty has expired"
We do of course offer, Renault Trafic universal electrics kits, however as stated these will invalidate any manufacturer warranty you may have.
Bypass Relays
Renault Trafic2014 Onwards will require a bypass relay when universal electrics are fitted.
Bypass relays are used to ensure that the kit does not present faults on the dashboard.
A bypass relay helps the universal kit hide from your vehicle ECU and functions so as not to put faults on the dashboard hence the name “BYPASS”.
A dedicated system works in harmony with your vehicles ECU and all of its functions.
Coding
This is the coding of the ECU to accept the dedicated system, this updates your vehicle's software to run smoothly with the new towbar, it works very much like an update to your smartphone.
All Renault Trafic 2014 onwards will not require coding.
Dedicated kits will not invalidate any warranty you may have.
Bumper cuts
The only options on the Renault Trafic 2014 onwards towbars are No Cut or None Visible Cut, a bumper cut is not always required.
