Porsche Macan Towing Specifications

The Porsche Macan (Type 95B) is a five-door luxury crossover SUV produced by the German car manufacturer Porsche from 2014. Below we will cover the Porsche Macan's towing specifications.

Porsche Macan Towbar electric kits

We recommend that all tow bars fitted to a Porsche Macan's are fitted with a dedicated electrics kit, this not only helps to ensure all modern features, such as trailer stability, parking sensors function correctly, but also ensures that the vehicles manufacturer’s warranty is not invalidated.

A quick look at Porsche's warranty page offers the option to extend your warranty up to 15 years on approved used Porsche's. Depending on the age of your Macan and whether you have taken the extended warranty cover, will determine whether you have a manufacturers warranty active.

         "The warranty periods start the day the vehicle is delivered to the customer. They include:

• Two-year warranty on all new vehicles
• Two-year warranty on genuine Porsche spare and replacement parts and accessories which are used or sold outside of warranty work. For Porsche parts which are used during warranty work, the warranty period ends at the same time as that of the vehicle that has become defective
• Three-year paint warranty
• 12-year anti-corrosion warranty

  The Porsche Approved Warranty covers all components of your Porsche and offers the same level of service as our new car warranty. In principle, the Porsche Approved Warranty covers a period of at least 12 months and can, of course, be extended provided your Porsche is no more than 14 years old and has covered less than 200,000 km/125,000 miles.
  
  So we insure your Porsche for up to 15 years and, if your vehicle is less than 13 years old, you can choose a 24-month warranty period. Even if you didn’t buy your car with a Porsche Approved Warranty, or if the warranty has already expired, this can still be arranged through your Porsche Centre. We do of course offer, Porsche Macan universal electrics kits, however as stated these will invalidate any manufacturer warranty you may have.

Bypass Relays

Porsche Macan will require a bypass relay when universal electrics are fitted. Bypass relays are used to ensure that the kit does not present faults on the dashboard.

A bypass relay helps the universal kit hide from your vehicle ECU and functions so as not to put faults on the dashboard hence the name “BYPASS”.

A dedicated system works in harmony with your vehicles ECU and all of its functions.

Coding

This is the coding of the ECU to accept the dedicated system, this updates your vehicle's software to run smoothly with the new towbar, it works very much like an update to your smartphone. All Porsche Macan's will require coding. Dedicated kits will not invalidate any warranty you may have.

Bumper cuts

The only options on the Porsche Macan towbars are No Cut or a Visible Cut and None Visible Cut, a bumper cut is not always required.

Nose weight

Nose weight is the amount of weight pushing down on the tow ball, it is important to not exceed the nose weight set on the tow bar, failure to do so could damage the car chassis and/or tow bar mounting points. For the Porsche Macan, the maximum capacity nose weight is 100kg, nose weights are displayed under each tow bar below.

Towing weight

Towing weight is the weight that the Porsche Macan towbars can tow safely, without damaging the vehicle, the maximum towing weight capacity is 2500kg, the minimum towing weight capacity is 2400kg.

You will need to check the towing limit for your model of Porsche Macan as it may not be able to tow up to the weight limit that the tow bar can tow.
