Nissan NV400 Towing Specifications

We recommend that all tow bars fitted to a Nissan NV400 Van's are fitted with a dedicated electrics kit, this not only helps to ensure all modern features, such as trailer stability, parking sensors function correctly, but also ensures that the vehicles manufacturer’s warranty is not invalidated.
A quick look at Nissan's warranty page confirms that for the Nissan NV400 van, only Light Commercial vehicles which are under 5 years old or have less than 100,000 miles on the clock, will have a manufacturers warranty active unless you have taken out the extended warranty.

Bypass Relays
Nissan NV400 Van will NOT require a bypass relay if universal electrics are fitted. Bypass relays are used to ensure that the kit does not present faults on the dashboard.
A bypass relay helps the universal kit hide from your vehicle ECU and functions so as not to put faults on the dashboard hence the name “BYPASS”.
A dedicated system works in harmony with your vehicles ECU and all of its functions.
Coding
This is the coding of the ECU to accept the dedicated system, this updates your vehicle's software to run smoothly with the new towbar, it works very much like an update to your smartphone. All Nissan NV400 Van will NOT require coding if a dedicated kit is fitted.Bumper cuts
The only options on the Nissan NV400 Van towbars are, No Cut, or Visible, a bumper cut is not always required.Nose weight
Nose weight is the amount of weight pushing down on the tow ball, it is important to not exceed the nose weight set on the tow bar, failure to do so could damage the car chassis and/or tow bar mounting points. For the Nissan NV400 Van, the maximum capacity nose weight is 120kg, the minimum capacity nose weight is 100kg, nose weights are displayed under each tow bar below.Towing weight
Towing weight is the weight that the Nissan NV400 Van towbars can tow safely, without damaging the vehicle, the maximum towing weight capacity is 3000kg, the minimum towing weight capacity is 2500kg.
