We recommend that all tow bars fitted to a Peugeot 5008 are fitted with a dedicated electrics kit, this not only helps to ensure all modern features, such as trailer stability, parking sensors function correctly, but also ensures that the vehicles manufacturer’s warranty is not invalidated.

A quick look at Peugeot's warranty page confirms that Peugeot 5008, only vehicles which are under 3 years old or have less than 60,000 miles on the clock, will have a manufacturers warranty active unless you have taken out the extended warranty.

Peugeot Renewal Warranty offers extensive component coverage, repairs can be carried out at a Peugeot Authorised Repairer, and is available as an Annual Policy or a Monthly Renewing Policy. We do of course offer, Peugeot 5008 universal electrics kits, however as stated these will invalidate any manufacturer warranty you may have.

Bypass Relays

Peugeot 5008 will require a bypass relay if universal electrics are fitted. Bypass relays are used to ensure that the kit does not present faults on the dashboard.

A bypass relay helps the universal kit hide from your vehicle ECU and functions so as not to put faults on the dashboard hence the name “BYPASS”.

A dedicated system works in harmony with your vehicles ECU and all of its functions.

Coding

This is the coding of the ECU to accept the dedicated system, this updates your vehicle's software to run smoothly with the new towbar, it works very much like an update to your smartphone. All Peugeot 5008 will require coding if a dedicated kit is fitted.

Bumper cuts

The only option on the Peugeot 5008 2017 Onwards towbars is, None Visible Cut, a bumper cut is required.

Nose weight

Nose weight is the amount of weight pushing down on the tow ball, it is important to not exceed the nose weight set on the tow bar, failure to do so could damage the car chassis and/or tow bar mounting points. For the Peugeot 5008 2017 Onwards the maximum capacity nose weight is 100kg, the minimum nose weight is 80kg, nose weights are displayed under each tow bar below.

Towing weight

Towing weight is the weight that the Peugeot 5008 2017 Onwards towbars can tow safely, without damaging the vehicle, the maximum towing weight capacity is 1850kg, the minimum towing weight capacity is 1800kg.

You will need to check the towing limit for your model of Peugeot 5008 2017 Onwards as it may not be able to tow up to the weight limit that the tow bar can tow.
