Mini Countryman Towbars

The Mini Countryman is a car that enthusiasts had much to say when its first generation was launched as the mini’s first larger design car. The first Countryman arrived in 2010 and it was a shock to the market, although the appearance of it was something that was completely divisive when it comes to the car and automotive market its sales spoke for itself as it appealed to those who have always loved the design of the mini but needed more space. There are six models in the Mini Countryman line-up including the Cooper, Cooper D, Cooper S, Cooper SD, Cooper S E hybrid and John Cooper Works.

All of these vehicles have different varying engines. All cars from apart from the hybrid come with a six-speed manual gearbox as a standard. Mini has a reputation for building small cars which are fun to drive however the Countryman’s size does not take away from that driving agility. The Countryman has a maximum towing capacity of 1200kg which can support towing of a smaller caravan and most trailers depending on the loading weight.

The Mini Countryman is a is a subcompact crossover SUV produced by Mini. Below we will cover the towing specifications for the R60 (2010-2016) and F60 (2017 onwards).

Mini Countryman F60 2017 Onwards Towbar electric kits

We recommend that all tow bars fitted to a Mini Countryman are fitted with a dedicated electrics kit, this not only helps to ensure all modern features, such as trailer stability, parking sensors function correctly, but also ensures that the vehicles manufacturer’s warranty is not invalidated. Mini Warranty information

The age and mileage of your vehicle will determine whether you have a manufacturers warranty active.

We do of course offer, Mini Countryman universal electrics kits, however as stated these will invalidate any manufacturer warranty you may have.

Bypass Relays

Mini Countryman R60 will require a bypass relay if universal electrics are fitted. Bypass relays are used to ensure that the kit does not present faults on the dashboard.

A bypass relay helps the universal kit hide from your vehicle ECU and functions so as not to put faults on the dashboard hence the name “BYPASS”.

A dedicated system works in harmony with your vehicles ECU and all of its functions.

Coding

This is the coding of the ECU to accept the dedicated system, this updates your vehicle's software to run smoothly with the new towbar, it works very much like an update to your smartphone. All Mini Countryman's will NOT require coding if a dedicated kit is fitted.

Bumper cuts

The only option on the Mini Countryman R60 towbars are, No Cut, a bumper cut is not required.

Nose weight

Nose weight is the amount of weight pushing down on the tow ball, it is important to not exceed the nose weight set on the tow bar, failure to do so could damage the car chassis and/or tow bar mounting points. For the Mini Countryman F60, the maximum capacity nose weight is 100kg, nose weights are displayed under each tow bar below.

Towing weight

Towing weight is the weight that the Mini Countryman towbars can tow safely, without damaging the vehicle, the maximum towing weight capacity is 1500kg.

You will need to check the towing limit for your model of Mini Countryman F60 as it may not be able to tow up to the weight limit that the tow bar can tow.
