A camper van holiday is perfect for every member of the family, including your furry friends! Before you head off on your camper van holiday though, it’s important to make sure you have the proper plans in place to keep your pet safe and comfortable. Pet Passport

Not necessarily an issue if you only intend to travel in the UK, but if you plan further afield you will need to make sure your pooch has a pet passport that allows them to travel. Another thing to consider if you are travelling outside of the UK is that the UK requires a worming treatment to be carried out by a vet prior to the pet’s re-entry of the UK. Suitable Restraint

Rule 57 of the Highway Code states that dogs and animals must be suitably restrained during travel to ensure they can’t distract you whilst you are driving or cause an injury to you or themselves. You know your dogs’ preferences better than anyone so make sure you pick a suitable restraint for them whether it be that they prefer to be in a cage or use a dog seatbelt.

Planned stops

If it is quite a long journey to your destination, you will want to factor in some breaks to allow your dog to stretch his legs and get some fresh air. It will also help ensure no little accidents happen whilst in the car!

Animal Restrictions

If you’re heading to a camping site, you will likely have picked one that you know is animal-friendly, but they will probably have certain restrictions that you will need to be aware of (e.g. only allowed walks in specific areas, must be kept on a lead, etc). Being aware of these before you arrive will help you plan for your stay and ensure that you have an easy-going trip.
