In 2003 BMW released the X3 series, a mid-sized premium 4x4 crossover range. For this, the brand focused on refinement, ride quality and style. Although due to the size of the vehicle, the range is also practical and spacious enough to pass for a family car. The first five years proved to be highly successful for the series, with over half a million people buying the X3 over this time. The range is built on a platform that is shared with the 5 Series saloon, so naturally it shares many popular features. Available under the hood is a 2.0 litre turbodiesel engine as well as a 3.0 litre diesel engine, both offer strong performance and subdued levels of noise intrusion. Altogether, the BMW X3 is a range of refined capabilities and a all round great vehicle.
