Reviews

The first tow-bar I have installed and fitting was simple and *almost* trouble-free. Instructions were easy to follow and apart from the hiccup I am about to mention, assembly was complete in an hour or two, tops.

The problem - There are two "bolt-straps" per side of this tow bar assembly, presumably to allow for the tow bar to be fitted to a range of vehicles using bolt-holes in various locations. Because the arms reach so deep into the car, the bolts are welded to strips of metal to hold in place while you fish them down the chassis rail. Great. Except for the fact these straps are powder-coated, and this powder coating totally ruins the bolt threads. Of the 6 bolts, I managed (with difficulty) to tighten 4 of them as they were, the other two - not a chance in hell. I had to disassemble them and take them to my local garage and ask very nicely if they'd re-tap the bolts, in doing so removing the powder-coat from the threads.

Perhaps I was unlucky, it did strike me as odd that 4 bolts would tighten, but two wouldn't - even though they were all the same size and had the same powder coating applied. But either way, if I hadn't thought to go to the garage, I would probably have concluded that I was sent the incorrect nuts.

Apart from that, a good unit. Easy to install and looking forward to using it this summer!
