Best places to visit in the UK for a weekend

Now that freedom seems that little bit closer, it’s the perfect time to start getting excited for and planning your first trip away. There are so many great destinations to tick off your bucket list right here in the UK. So, if you’d prefer to play it safe this summer by travelling only within the UK then check out some of these great holiday locations.  

Devon and Cornwall 

In the south of England, Devon and Cornwall are well known UK holiday destinations due to their spectacular scenery, clean beaches, historical coastal towns, ancient ruins, modern shopping centres and attractive countryside.  

Both areas are popular places to enjoy water sports such as paddle boarding, surfing, swimming, sailing, rowing, canoeing and more. Hiring water sports equipment is easy to do during the summer months. But, if sporting activities aren’t for everyone in the family then enjoy theme parks, farms, wildlife parks and zoos. 

Norfolk 

Norfolk has three spectacular seaside resorts full of family amusements. Along the piers, you can enjoy theatre shows, crab fishing, seaside funfair rides, fish and chips, or an ice-cream. Also, if you’re lucky during peak summer months you’ll catch the firework displays that beautifully light up Great Yarmouth pier. 

The Peak District 

Holidaying in the Peak District is definitely one of our favourite things to do. Amongst the beautiful Derbyshire Dales, you can enjoy country walks and explore the many charming pubs across the moors. The Peak District can be a relaxing tip or an active adventure with the family as there’s plenty of sites to enjoy either way.  

Wales 

Wales is known for green valleys and quiet beaches. Take your pick between sandy beaches or rocky beaches alongside marshland. Walking in Wales will give you incredible views over the sea and along the hilltops; you may even be lucky enough to spot dolphins in the sea below. 

The Lake District 

A great pet-friendly, family holiday UK destination all year round. Many people visit The Lake District year on year to enjoy the tranquillity of the Lakes to unwind and recharge the batteries. Full of stunning wildlife and fantastic trails, you be immersed in the beauty of The Lake District.
