How to measure your caravan for awnings

 If you’re a caravan owner then you probably already know all about the many benefits of having an awning. There are all types of different awnings you can buy, from smaller canopy style awnings to provide shelter from the rain, to huge robust structures much bigger than your caravan.

Awnings can be used for so many ways, with that extra space and weatherproof shelter making your caravan trip experience a lot more comfortable and it is great to have additional room if you are entertaining guests.

If you are buying a full-size awning, then you will need the caravan’s A-Measurement to get the right size to fit your caravan model. This is how you find your A-Measurement:

Starting from the ground level, measure up to your awning rail, all the way around it and back down to the ground on the other side. You can measure this yourself using a flexible tape measure or using a piece of string and then measuring the length against a tape measure.

However, if you have the owner’s manual, it will include the A-Measurement in there. If you don’t have the owner’s manual don’t worry because you will probably be able to search for the A-measurement for your caravan model using Google! Most awning suppliers will also be able to advise you on the size you will need when you give them the model details for your caravan.
