Great cycling routes in the UK

Soon the weather will clear up and it will be the perfect time to head out with the bikes again! To help you plan out where your next adventure will take you, we have put together some of the top-rated cycling routes in the UK and their difficulty level. Take a look at what made our list below and let us know if you have any other suggestions!

The Lakeland Loop, Lake District

Starting off with a tougher circuit, The Lakeland Loop is 65km and has the most beautiful views of the lake. The route has been voted the best ride in Britain previously and although it is a cycling challenge, the views of the stunning lakeside scenery and quiet roads make it all worth the challenge.

Distance: 65km

Location: Lake District

Camel Trail, Cornwall

Back to an easier route, The Camel Trail is perfect for family bike rides or an easier cycle. This route is mostly traffic-free and reaches 29km of the stunning Cornish countryside. The trail runs through a disused railway line and shows some of the most extraordinary and historic views in the UK.

Lighthouse to Lighthouse, Tyne & Wear

This stunning coastal route is great for beginners or families because it is a fairly easy ride with no large climbs and has a good combination of traffic-free paths and quiet roads. The lighthouse also has a small museum, café and visitor centre.

Box Hill Olympic Circuit, London

A slightly tougher circuit from the last two, but this is one of the most beautiful gems in the South East! This circuit contains rural roads and has views overlooking the River Mole!

Elan Valley, Powys Wales

This is a hidden gem and follows the old Birmingham Corporation Railway line and is an all-ability bike centre. Riders looking for a bit more of a challenge can choose from one of the seven mountain bike routes!
