Best family campsites for the winter

Trying to find a campsite that is not only ideal for you and your family but that is also open in off-seasons can be difficult! Don’t fear, as we have done the hard work you and compiled a list of caravan sites that are great for the family and open in winter too.

See what made our list by reading on…

Highlands End Holiday Park, Dorset

Voted as the 2019 Dorset Holiday Park of the Year, this site is located on the stunning clifftop overlooking 99 miles of the Jurassic Coast in Dorset. This is a 5-star park that offers motorhome pitches and caravans. It boasts great facilities including a bar and restaurant to enjoy in the evening, a leisure club with a swimming pool, a pitch ‘n’ putt course as well as a children’s soft play area.

An all-round great family option with close links to local attractions including bike and boat hires.

Merley Court Holiday Park, Dorset

Another option based in Dorset but with access to a sister park that has activities the family will love, including archer and zorbing and a virtual reality room.

Merley is dog-friendly and on-site you can find ‘The Retreat’ and ‘The Atrium’ which both serve drinks and snacks, as well as bar drinks and menu’s in the evening. The Oakdene bar shows Live Sky Sports for sporting events – something to keep the boy’s happy!

Again, another great family option, especially if you want to bring your dog and would prefer to drive down to Dorset coast.

Cheddar Caravan Site, Somerset

On the very edge of Cheddar Village, you will find Cheddar Club Site which boasts beautiful views of the Mendips and the countryside. If you’re a walker, you will have a great time here with many trails and walks at your service. In the village, you will find a variety of shops, pubs and takeaways to enjoy!

To keep the kids entertained, you have access to the fun activities in the area that includes karting, pony-treks, golf, off-road driving and a great cycle path for the cyclists in the family. Nearby you can also visit Cheddar Caves and the famous Wookey Hole Caves.

This site is great if you plan a lot of active days out with the kids.
